The Quran is a living document and is considered untranslatable. The Arabic text continuously offers new meanings and fresh ways of interpreting it. The author’s aim has been to remain scrupulously faithful to the Arabic text and still create a version written in American English prose that can be used confidently by English speakers.
Here the author has attempted to study the Qur'an from within and simulate the terse yet vibrant quality of the original Qur’anic message, and to take a fresh look at the original text and explore it for new content and present-day applications. In this respect the present translation breaks new ground, making for refreshing reading even after other translations have been read.
